Membertou Explores Renewable Energy

Membertou First Nation was invited to address the 3rd Annual Renewable Energy Conference at the Westin Nova Scotia Hotel in Halifax on June 3rd and 4th. Gerard MacAdam, Senior Business Development Officer, presented Membertou’s interest in the growing market of renewable energy at a keynote panel session entitled “Developing Stakeholder Partnerships” by introducing and welcoming the world to Membertou and announcing, “We are open for business” to the attendees who wish to forge new partnerships with Cape Breton businesses.
Delegates from the Membertou Corporate Development office who attended the two day conference were interested in better understanding the technology associated with renewable energy sources and how the First Nation community can reduce its dependency on traditional forms of energy to reduce consumption and rising fuel costs.
Richard Paul, Senior Business Development Officer said “The conference was an excellent opportunity to network and create business relationships that will help to better understand how partnerships in the renewable energy field can influence the advancement of renewable energy projects in the Cape Breton region that are sensitive to the environment.”
