Kiju's Restaurant
Executive Chef: Amedeo Vallati

“The English translation for ‘Kiju’s’ is referring to one’s mother. The reason for this name is that our people have always counted on our ‘Kiju’s’ for making the best home cooked meals around. We know a meal at our ‘Kiju’s’ was always guaranteed to be delicious. Also it would honor all those years in which they have cooked for our families.”

Paul Gould, Membertou

Kiju’s is the Mi’kmaq word for mother and as we all know mothers have a great influence on the recipes that are passed down from generation to generation around the world. “Kiju’s” will embrace this tradition by offering menu items that are influenced by cultures such as Cape Breton, Mi’kmaq, Italian, Polish, American, Mexican and more.

The décor of the restaurant reflects the Mi’kmaq culture by including elements such as natural woods, stone and earthy tones, along with historic photographs from Membertou.

Kiju's Executive Chef Amedeo Vallati has trained throughout Europe and Canada and earned a master’s in Italian  culinary arts. Amedeo prides himself on creating menu items and specials from scratch with fresh local ingredients.
